(1) Kagyu Gurtso (Rain of Wisdom) CD-DVD set
A 51 minute CD and 17 minute DVD of monks at Surmang Dutsi Til, led by Karma Senge Rinpoche, performing selections from the Kagyu Gurtso. Nine songs are included in the CD and five songs on the DVD. This is one of the first recordings of these songs of realization by Milarepa, Marpa, Gampopa, and others.

The songs included on the CD and DVD were recorded at Surmang Dutsi Til by Jon Ransohoff and Lyndon Comstock in August 2010. Four short videos about Surmang Dutsi Til are also included on the DVD.

Recitation of the Kagyu Gurtso (Rain of Wisdom) on the annual anniversary of Milarepaâ€™s parinirvana has been a tradition for centuries in Tibetan Kagyu monasteries, including Surmang.

The Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche instituted this tradition within the Shambhala community in the West in 1980, following the translation of the Kagyu Gurtso into English as The Rain of Wisdom. This CD and DVD provide the first opportunity for us in the West to hear these songs as they are recited at Surmang.

The printed insert for the set provides page references for each song in The Rain of Wisdom.
